What is a LAN? What is a LAN party?
A LAN is a Local Area Network... basically some computers hooked together and talking to each other. A LAN party is when people get together and play games on a network. Games typically played include: Quake III & IV, Call of Duty, Battlefield 1942 and II, UT 2003 & 2004, World of Warcraft, etc.  THIS IS NOT FOR PLAYING ONLINE GAMES LIKE AT YAHOO OR SOME OTHER ONLINE FLASH GAMING SITE.

Why do you play on a LAN? Can't you do that on the Internet?
Yea, you can play games on the Internet. But there are a lot of things that you don't control on the Internet. The Internet is sometimes slow and at best unpredictable at times. We play on a LAN instead of just on the Internet because it is fast and we control what happens. It's more fun to play with people who you know and are right beside you as well.

What games are you gonna play?
The games that we normally play tend to be FPS (first person shooters), but we do play other types as well. If you are opposed to gore and blood in games, then just stick with your Solitaire and don't come. It's all up to you guys but we do host servers for the most popular games at the moment, such as Battlefield 2 or UT2004.

I like other games, other than those listed above, can we play it too?
You can bring any game you want and you might find others who also want to play it too!  We see everything from The Sims to Warcraft III and Diablo.

Do I have to bring my own computer?
Yes.  You must supply your own PC and copies of games you want to play.  You can use our peripherals or bring your own but you MUST use our monitor and network connection.

For game consoles you must bring everything form the console to game controllers to games.  We supply network connections for these and big screens to play on.

Should I bring my speakers?
NO!! Bring headphones, it helps keep the volume down to a dull roar. No external speakers will be allowed.

Do I have to bring my own games?
Yes. We do not support software piracy. Bring what you want to play. More than likely someone else likes to play it too. See our list of games played if you want to go and get what people are playing.

Can I copy your games or other software there?
No. ResNet does not advocate software piracy in any shape or form. So DON'T ASK US!

We'll be there for many hours, so should I bring any food?
Since you will be here for a long period of time and you need nourishment, we will {TRY} to have pizza and sodas around 10 p.m. on Friday night but if this is not possible we'll have a break around that time so you can go and get food, but there are vending machines if this isn't possible. If you want to go out before or after that, you are free to come and go as you wish. Just be sure you have your nametags on when you come and go from the room

How can I help?
If you would like to bring a 12-pack of coke or mountain dew or some other carbonated beverage, that would just be awesome!

Do you play game console type games?
Usually.  Check with us when you register.
