
Connection Problems
NOTE: Known issues/error messages can be found in our Knowledgebase
Things you can try/know before you call us:
- Check all of your connections: Is the CAT 5 cable securely in your computer and the wall jack?
- Is the CAT 5 cable in the correct wall jack? The phone jack and Ethernet jack look similiar. The best check is to plug your telephone cord into both because it will only work in one. The other jack(s) will be the Ethernet.
- Has anything changed, been upgraded, or modified on your system since it last was working?
- Has the machine been moved? Check cables!
- Are you experencing the same problem as others on your floor in your building?
- Are you receiving an error message? Write it down verbatium or have it available on your screen for us.
- Does the problem occur again after you restart your computer? Restarting fixes many things.
- Are you typing your username and password correctly? Has the password expired? Is the cap locks key on?
- How long as the problem been occurring?
- When did it last work properly?
- What operating system are you using? (e.g., Windows XP/Vista or Apple Macintosh Leopard)
- If you right-click on the Cisco icon on your system tray, can you click "Login" or "Logout"? If so, do this. Trying logging out THEN loggin back in.
