Windows Server Update-11/14/08

There will be a server upgrade tonight between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. Please expect some outage but they should be brief. Thank you for your understanding.

Blackboard Upgrade

The EKU Blackboard system will be shut down for a system upgrade beginning after noon on Saturday, Aug. 9. We will restore services as soon as possible. According to our preliminary tests, we expect to have the system back in operation by Tuesday morning, Aug. 12. We will provide updated information as needed through the ordinary Blackboard address, learn.eku.edu.

We will be running "Blackboard 8" after this upgrade. The major improvement in this version is the Grade Center, giving instructors far greater flexibility and customization in how grades are stored and displayed.
Blackboard Scheduled Outage

Blackboard will be unavailable this Saturday, July 19th from 7-11 a.m. due to system maintenance.

Anti-Spam System Maintenance

Our Anti-Spam system will be undergoing maintenance this Thursday June 19th from 9:00am - 1:00pm. During this time spam email will not be filtered from our Exchange mail servers and the anti-spam system logon will be unavailable.

Symantec for Vista

If you need a copy of Symantec for Vista, bring a CD-R/RW or thumb drive to our office in Combs 230 and tell the person at the desk you need a copy of Symantec for Vista.

Symantec Updates-XP/2000

It has come to our attention that the version 10.1.0.394 needs to be updated immediately because of a security hole! Bring a blank CD-R/RW or thumb drive to the ResNet office to get an updated version to install. Just get the file, install it over the other copy, and restart your computer and you should be patched up! [Version updating to: 10.1.5]

EKU Blackboard will be DOWN overnight tonight, beginning at midnight. We expect to restore services by 7 a.m. (Tuesday).

Hall Cluster Slowness

We have had some concerns lately about how slow the machines have been in the residence hall clusters. We have looked into this problem and it is merely from high usage at the moment. Whenever resources in these areas are topped out this will happen.

NOTE 2/13/07: ITDS is currently adding a second server for the hall clusters so this should speed up service in this area soon!

Cisco Clean Access 4

ATTENTION!! Cisco has been upgraded to version 4 which now supports Internet Explorer 7!! Also, problems you have been experiencing the past few days was due to testing this system and putting it online live. Thank you for your patience and we hope you all enjoy the changes! GAME CONSOLE REGISTRATION NOTE: If you have a current game console or want to connect one that is released as of November 1, 2006, all you need to do is plug-n-play. You no longer need to register your system. However, when the PS3 and Wii are released later this month, you will need to bring the MAC address to us from your system so we can add them to Cisco so everyone works automatically after that.

EKU Wireless

You will now need to do this setup to get ready for EKU wireless but now you'll need to login via a website to gain surfing ability.

Residence Hall Clusters Down for Repair

Because of recent problems with the computer clusters located in the residence halls, ITDS will be taking them offline to make repairs that will fix these issues.

Internet Explorer 7

Internet Explorer 7 Beta will not work with ResNet. If it is installed you will have to uninstall it before you can connect.
